Power and passion
“TILT,” a world premiere choreographed by Helen Pickett to Phillip Glass’s Concerto No. 2 for Violin and Orchestra, and Partita for Solo Violin, was my favorite of the night.
“TILT” takes a deep dive within, and it takes us with it.

Critical Dance, By Sigrid Payne DaVeiga
“TILT
was enrapturing in the constancy of its movement…There was no need to pick a specific detail to rest on because everything on stage was impeccable
The piece was a constant flux of organized grace and then eruption into a controlled chaos… In its premiere, TILT was innovative and exciting and set perfectly on this group of artists… (This) production was inspiring, bold, powerful, and unapologetic for its genius. This is the art and the voice we need to hear in the world of dance and everywhere today.”

Helen Pickett’s world premiere of Tilt opened the performance and was a masterful and well-thought out piece…Pickett seemed to have capitalized on the dancers technical and artistic strengths.  Tilt was performed with energy and meticulous accuracy.

This ballet is one of those precious works…The audience realizes that what is going on the stage is not about the technical greatness that they exhibit, but more about what a ballet, as a piece of art, can express.

Fjord Review, FULL TILT, By Merilyn Jackson
Pennsylvania Ballet presented an epic program…called “On Edge” (and)we audience were as much on edge of our seats as the performance was razor-sharp…One of the most breathtaking dance entrances on record. “Tilt’s” rapid locomotion matched Glass’s tempos to the T.
